My painting of my dog, Loui.  Acrylic on canvas.
Done in an afternoon, with my friend, at Cocktails & Canvases, Paint Your Mate night.

Tips for taking your Pet photos, so I can paint great Pet Portraits!

A bad photo of my Dog.
I am looking down at him, too close (distracting him & makes his nose look big).
Light source is behind him.
Other distracting stuff around him.

A good photo of my dog.
Natural light (under our verandah with frosted LaserLight roof.  (Full sun sometimes too harsh)
I held a big sheet of white cardboard to reflect the light back into his face. (Must do for black pets).  A flash often distracts pets & gives them Red-eye.
Turn off the noise on your camera too.
I am down at his level, but not too close - use `zoom' to get in close. - doesn't distort his nose.
In focus.
Full size picture - Big enough file to print out A4, without loosing quality.  (Just because it looks ok on your computer screen, doesn't mean it will print ok.  - my eyes get sore trying to look at details on tiny photos.)
Email the photos or upload directly to shared file.  Sending as message on Facebook or Messenger instantly compacts the photo - can't print very large from it.
